"BEGINNING" (2018, 100×120 cm, plywood, polymer resins, synthetic fillers, oil)
Against a black background, like a rift into another dimension, emerges the three-dimensional outline of a slightly ajar door. From behind it pours a deep crimson light, as if a living, pulsating space lies beyond. The painting is created using a technique that blends the rough texture of synthetic fillers with the fluidity of resins, giving the door an almost tangible depth.
The Story Behind It:
The artist worked on this piece in an old studio where the floorboards creaked at night, as though someone was walking behind the walls. One evening, half-asleep, he saw an outline on the plywood panel—like a door that had opened on its own. Inspired by this vision, he began layering resin, mixing in oil paint to make the light in the finished work appear alive. He stirred the red pigment into the oil just as the sun rose outside, bathing the studio in a bloody hue.
They say the creaking in the studio stopped after the painting was completed. But those who stare at "BEGINNING" for too long notice something unsettling—the shadows around it sometimes seem to move.
